I spent about 5 hours today writing letters to various people in the Department of Mental Health and in the state. Last Friday I spoke to a person who lives in Tuscaloosa County who had arranged for a self directed waiver to pay for his daughter’s care. He hadn’t set up a Microboard, but at least at the time he had control of the public funds spent on his daughter’s behalf. We could use that kind of control over the funds and even if Colin’s Castle is not fully funded, that would be a good interim step.
Last week I also observed a survey of the other Alabama Microboard, Bridget’s Home, Inc. and I must say that we have all our ducks in a row when it comes to us being inspected and surveyed.
Carry on the fight!
